Greening and Restoration of Wastelands with Agroforestry (G.R.O.W)

This NITI Aayog report (2024) provides a national framework to assess and prioritize wastelands for agroforestry development. Using GIS-based Agroforestry Suitability Index (ASI), it maps areas under highly suitable, moderately suitable, and less suitable categories. The report promotes agroforestry as a climate mitigation and livelihood strategy, aligning with national targets like Land Degradation Neutrality and carbon sink creation. It also introduces an interactive tool available on Bhuvan Geoportal.
